Setting Up RISD Google Apps for Education in Outlook 2010 using IMAP

1. Open Outlook
2. If this is the first account you'll see the window below ( If not click File and click Add Account. Skip to Step 6) 
3. Click Next

4. Click Yes
5. Click Next

6. Choose "Manually Configure..."
7. Click Next

8. Choose Internet email
9. Click next

10. Enter the information:

Your name: Enter your full name
E-Mail Address: Enter your full RISD email address
Account Type: Choose IMAP
Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
User Name: Enter your full RISD email address
Password: Enter your current RISD account password

11. Click More Settings...

12. Click the Outgoing Server tab
13. Click check off "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
14. Choose Use same settings as my incoming server

15. Click Advanced tab
16. Enter the following settings:
Incoming server (IMAP): 993
Use the following type of encryption connection: Choose SSL
Outgoing server (SMTP): 587
Use the following type of encryption connection: Choose TLS
17. Click OK

18. Click Next

19. Outlook will check the server information and if the settings were entered correctly you will receive a Successful message.
Repeat steps or call the Help Desk if it fails.
20. Click Close

21. Click Finish.

Outlook will open automatically.
Please note: Outlook will automatically check to see if it is the default mail program. This may or may not be desired depending on your set up. This is optional.
