Importing Calendars

You can import any calendar information with a .ics file format into a Google Calendar. 

Exporting a calendar from GroupWise and Importing into Google(requires the GroupWise Windows Client)
1. Log into GroupWise.
2. Right-click on the Calendar item from the folder list (on left hand side of screen).
3. Click Export.
4. Save the Calendar.ics file to your desktop.
5. Log into mail.risd.edu.
6. Click on Calendar.
7. Under the Other Calendars section click Add.
8. Choose Import Calendar.
9. Browse to the Calendar.ics file location and select.
10. Choose the calendar you want to import it to - it will default to your personal calendar.*
11. Click Import.
12. Google will give you a pop up window that details how many items were imported.

Exporting a calendar from another Google Calendar to your risd.edu Google Calendar
1. Log into the other Google account and go to the Calendar.
2. Click Settings and then click Calendars tab.
3. Click Export Calendars (If you have more that one calendar in your list it will save them as separate files in one large zip file.)
4. Open the zip file, extract the .ics files, and save them to the desktop. (This will allow you to import one calendar at a time.)
5. Log into mail.risd.edu.
6. Click on Calendar.
7. Under the Other Calendars section click Add.
8. Choose Import Calendar.
9. Browse to the .ics file location and select.
10. Choose the calendar you want to import it to - it will default to your personal calendar.*
11. Click Import.
12. Google will give you a pop up window that details how many items were imported.


* Note: If you want to import the information into a new calendar you must create a new calendar in your account before importing. To do this click Create under the My Calendars section (on left hand side), name the new calendar and click Create Calendar. Now you will be able to choose the calendar when importing.
